Also, remember to disable the Uplay overlay completely when playing so you don't keep crashing at the end of missions (Far Cry 3 can do this too, but Blood Dragon is much worse). GLHF. Edit: Actually you may no longer need to do the overlay thing, I can't get the FPS to show up so maybe it is "unsupported" now, which is probably for the best
I purchased the game last night. Played it for a few minutes after it installed. Then had to take care of some stuff. Came back later, and it won't start a second time. It gives me the little Farcry Primal logo applet, starts up Uplay, and then the logo goes away, and nothing. I have rebooted my system. Powered down fully and started back up, nothing. It just will not start up a second time.
So last week this game was working fine. Last night my computer installed the fall update for windows 10 and when I try to launch farcry 3 today it won't launch at all. Says "running" by the name of the game in my steam list for about 5 seconds or so but no window opens or any sign of the game even starting to lauch before it simply closes down. Tried verifying the integrity of the game files
"Restart" doesn't mean just "close the Steam window and then reopen it". You have to EXIT Steam entirely. Right-click on the Steam icon in your task bar, choose "Exit Steam". Wait a few moments to be sure you're fully exited (I do a slow count to 5, "one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand", etc). Then, start Steam back up.
Was having the same problem and tried a few things including: -Going to the install folder and setting the exe to windows XP service pack 3 compatibility mode. -Launching it from the exe and using run as administrator. -Closing nVidia experience (though it seems to reopen itself when launching the game?) -Turning off the Uplay overlay.
It seemed like it was going to start in windowed mode. Anyway i havent been able to run the game ever since so i reinstalled the game but when it was checking PunkBuster after the files were copied, it just stuck ther where it said something like: Checking version status.
JjPprve. Try installing directX drivers again here --- C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 2\installers. Uninstall directX drivers, download them again. If that doesn't work reinstall the game (after doing directX drivers) Last edited by Moon Moon ; Feb 3, 2019 @ 11:54am. #7. thirdkeeper Feb 3, 2019 @ 2:36pm.
Did it twice, same thing, the third time, it says I'm opening too many games at once and need to wait. Did it this morning, the same result. Did it now, the same result. I tried connecting my ubisoft account, didn't work. I tried without connecting my ubisoft account, didn't work. I tried re-installing, didn't work. Don't know what to do.
Multi-Fix for Far Cry 2 - Fixes all known bugs (except for the mysterious but unnecessary no phone-sound bug. - the same info is available in your journal) - Sets FOV - Limits FPS to 60 (required) and offers several play modes. - Without this launcher you could end up with game ending bugs. Thanks ! - to:

I don't know if I was having the same "black screen" problem as everybody else but even after 1.4 I was still basically unable to play. -Launch to unresponsive black screen. -Alt-tab out and back or shift-tab to steam overlay removes black screen and allows game to continue.
Original sources: FilePlanet (US, FR, DE, IT, ESP) This is the Far Cry AMD64 / WinXP Pro x64 Upgrade Patch. It allows the game to be run as a native 64-bit application, providing various benefits and enhancements. Note that the 64-bit version cannot be upgraded to v1.4 (the latest patch).
